Tell us about Bad Blood, your recent novel, and what it’s like to get back to Australia after your time in Scotland.
Bad Blood has just hit the shelves. Investigative reporter Harry Hendrick is coerced by police into probing a series of bizarre suicides, leading him into the web of dominatrix Mistress Hel. It’s like 50 Shades meets Supernatural. 😉
Being back in Brisbane is great. We had a fabulous time in Scotland but I wasn’t looking forward to another Scottish winter. Really looking forward to spending more time with friends and family.
When you look back on yourself starting out as a proto-writer, are there any tips you would give past-you?
I wish I’d read Chuck Wendig’s ‘How To Push Past the Bullshit and Write That Goddamned Novel’ when I started out. To be fair, it wasn’t written back then. But I wish Chuck had a time machine and went back in time and posted it.
I also wish I could tell myself, ‘You are never going to have more time than you have right now’. I can remember wanting to write fiction when I was in high school and putting it off because ‘I don’t have the time’. HAH!
What are you working on next?
I’m working on the third Harry Hendrick book, tentatively titled Stone Cold.

Vigil, by Angela Slatter
Which author (living or dead) would you most like to sit next to on a long plane trip and why?
Kurt Vonnegut, because I think we share a similar sense of humour.
